Depression: Through the Pain

You CAN make it through the pain.

Music in the Toolbox: FIGHT SONG

on May 17, 2013

Good morning! You’re going to CONQUER this depression, and, amazingly, one day you’ll look back on this struggle and be glad for it. That may sound farfetched to you now, but YOU WILL.

What is your goal right now? To heal. In fact, not only to heal, but to end up in an even better place than when all of this started. As simple as the tools are that I share, they are powerful when combined and used. Over time, you’ll see that they are helping you.

I won’t be blogging this weekend, but I want to leave you with your next tool: music. I would cling to certain songs when I was in the depths of depression. You may want to do the same. Don’t play depressing songs over and over, even if you are relating to them. That is not what you need right now. Those type songs help keep you low. Listen to songs that focus on a better day. Songs that give you the conviction to FIGHT THIS THING. The one I’m posting today is “Stand Up” by Sugarland. It’s a FIGHT SONG filled with HOPE. Play it several times a day. Enjoy and learn from it.

Keep up with your gratitude journal, and I’ll be back on Monday. We’ll add a couple more tools next week.

Blessings, Elizabeth

** Thanks to Leigh Smith for posting “Stand Up” on YouTube.

*** If you are new to this blog, it is best to start by reading “About” and the first entry that was posted on May 13, 2013. Then read each consecutive entry, one per day. Welcome!
